{"id":232,"date":"2012-03-22T15:38:41","date_gmt":"2012-03-22T20:38:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kele.com\/keleblog\/?p=232"},"modified":"2022-03-15T15:27:29","modified_gmt":"2022-03-15T20:27:29","slug":"kele-hits-the-road-to-investigate-component-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kele.com\/content\/blog\/2012\/03\/22\/kele-hits-the-road-to-investigate-component-hospital","title":{"rendered":"Kele Hits the Road to Investigate Component Hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Old Hospital\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.kele.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/component-hospital-blog-pic1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2496\" height=\"1664\" \/>Well, when it comes to intriguing new applications for Kele\u2019s peripherals in building automation systems, I just can\u2019t help being nosey.<\/p>\n<p>A couple of weeks ago I received an email from one of our account executives, Jon Butler, about one of his customers who was working on temporary hospital in Joplin, Missouri.<\/p>\n<p>Kele was the Xcel Mechanicals supplier for custom\u00a0<a title=\"ACI Temp\/Humidity sensors\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kele.com\/Humidity\/Manufacturer\/ACI.aspx\">ACI Temp\/Humidity sensors<\/a>,\u00a0<a title=\"UAT\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kele.com\/Transducers\/UAT-1,-UAT-2.aspx\">UAT<\/a>s,\u00a0<a title=\"PowerSupplies\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kele.com\/Power-Supplies.aspx\">PowerSupplies<\/a>,\u00a0<a title=\"RPS\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kele.com\/Pressure\/A300-Series,-RPS,-SD-01,-21121,-60681.aspx\">RPS<\/a>\u00a0and<a title=\"SRPM\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kele.com\/Pressure\/SRPM.aspx\">SRPM<\/a>\u00a0monitors for the job.<\/p>\n<p>If you remember, Joplin was the town that was hit with a huge tornado on May 22, 2011.\u00a0 The RF-4 (second strongest) tornado was the most deadly in 60 years.\u00a0\u00a0 It cut a path of destruction six miles wide. The hospital was among the buildings destroyed.<\/p>\n<p>The new hospital, slated for completion in early 2015, will be built with 327 inpatient beds to support the region with a planned expansion of up to 424 beds. The plans include beds for medical\/surgical care, critical care, women\u2019s\/children\u2019s services (labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum rooms), behavioral health and rehabilitation.<\/p>\n<p>In the interim, Mercy Hospital has been delivering care from a mobile hospital.\u00a0 To bridge the community\u2019s healthcare needs between now and 2015 when the new hospital is finished, Mercy is constructing a \u201ccomponent\u201d hospital that will serve until the main project is completed. Like pre-fabricated housing, a component hospital is made up of modules that are built off site and then delivered to the site where they are joined together.<\/p>\n<p>Well, I\u2019d never seen a component hospital under construction, and I was due for a road trip, so I asked Jon Butler to help me get in touch with David Brown, Superintendent from Xcel Mechanical who was working on all the mechanical, \u00a0and building automation for the component hospital.<\/p>\n<p>David was more than happy to accommodate my curiosity.
