Sometime last week I answered the phone in my usual manor when the man on the other end asked simply \u201ctech support?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0To which I replied, \u201cYes, this is tech support\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI need someone that knows the \u2018dark arts<\/strong>\u2019\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know who you are.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know what you want.\u201d I told him.\u00a0 \u201cIf you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don\u2019t have any money.\u00a0 But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career.\u00a0 Skills that make me\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

OK \u2013 I didn\u2019t really say that.\u00a0 You caught me.<\/p>\n

When the customer asked for someone that knows the \u201cdark arts\u201d (that part is true) I did ask him if he was talking about pneumatics, which he was.\u00a0 Pneumatics, the dark arts of the control world, I wish I had thought of that.<\/p>\n

Truth be told, there is nothing \u201cdark\u201d about pneumatics.\u00a0 Pneumatic systems, when properly installed and maintained, have always been highly efficient and had the ability to provide excellent control.\u00a0 It should also be noted that pneumatics are not dead.<\/p>\n
