This comes as no surprise since the world is currently battling the COVID-19 pandemic, which puts HVAC contractors close to the front line. Contractors are needed to help lead the charge in keeping hospitals safely up and running. This includes potentially converting unused dormitories and hotels into emergency hospitals for the overflow of patients that continues to grow every day.<\/p>\n<p>The Centers for Disease Control recommends hospitals \u201cprioritize AIIRs for patients undergoing aerosol-generating procedures.\u201d AIIRs are, of course, Airborne Infection Isolation Rooms. <strong>The primary task for engineers and contractors is to create a negative pressure environment.<\/strong> (In the case of a converted space, there may be obstacles from the need to replace HVAC units entirely if they are not up to the task of maintaining safe ventilation.)<\/p>\n<p>Negative pressure is required in isolation rooms because it prevents infected airborne particles from traveling outside the room. COVID-19 spreads through respiratory droplets. In this case, when doors to the isolation room are opened, the droplets will not spread beyond the room.<\/p>\n<p>So, what components do you need?
