Q:What is the benefit of the "Smart" LED option for the CS1150A and SCS1150A current switches?
A: The "Smart" LED simplifies the trip point adjustment of these current switches. When the LED is OFF, there is no current being sensed. When the LED is flashing slowly, current is present but is below the trip point of the switch. When the LED is flashing rapidly, the current is above the trip point and has tripped the current switch. To adjust the trip point, first energize the load being monitored. Next, simply turn the 4-turn adjustment counter-clockwise until the LED flashing turns from fast to slow. Now turn the adjustment clockwise until the fast flashing resumes. The switch is now tripped. It is advisable to turn the adjustment slightly further clockwise to provide a margin for normal current variations.
