Our professional, experienced Panel Technicians work closely with you to design and build panels exactly as you need with the quality craftsmanship you expect. Every panel is quality tested for startup before it is shipped, making it ready for installation the moment you get it.

Kele started assembling control panels 25 years ago and was approved as a UL panel assembly shop 17 years ago. Typically our customer will supply their controller to us, and we assemble all of the parts around it. These include the enclosure, terminal blocks, relays, wire duct, and any other parts needed. We also build panels for special applications such as lighting and dimming control. The Kele Panel Shop is included in our manufacturing location, Kele Precision Manufacturing (KPM).

A UL listed panel must be built by a UL approved panel shop. The standard used is UL508A for Industrial Control Panels, but the standard states that it applies to control panels for air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, too.

UL508A gives the standards for enclosure type, live component spacing, grounding requirements, fuse or circuit breaker protection, labeling, wire types and sizing, etc. There are about 175 pages in the standard that must be followed. We get random inspections by the UL inspector to make sure we are following the standard.

Once a UL listed panel is completed, all of the components will be verified to meet the standard, all proper labels will be attached, a parts list and drawing will be in a door pocket.

A custom panel is an original design, usually a one-time job. Many customers use the same panel over and over again, typically for a regional or national franchise operation like retail stores. Instead of having to enter a parts list and get quotations every time, we can create a single model number with fixed pricing.

The KPM panel shop created a ready-to-use panel named the Insta-panel. We have three sizes that come pre-equipped with control transformer, terminal blocks, wiring duct, extra DIN rail, and a convenience outlet. The parts are mounted on a perf panel so they can be moved or more parts added quickly. These are available in various enclosure colors. The Insta-panels are stocked at Kele and will ship the same day. Usually you just add your controller, add a few wires and you are ready to go. These cannot be UL listed panels as they are not shipped as a complete panel.

Many of our customers have discovered our ability to furnish custom products. We are able to make engraved labels with our computerized label engraver. If we can get it on the computer screen, it will engrave it, even logos.

We get orders weekly for custom stainless steel plates with devices mounted. These are typically used in hospitals or industrial applications. If you want a digital display, some push-buttons and pilot lights mounted on a stainless steel plate, we can do it.

We have had special enclosures made for those tight spots. We can even have the whole building silk-screened on a plate to put on the enclosure front.
