The VA301C Gas Detection Controller provides continuous monitoring of up to 96 inputs/outputs, on three channels, at distances up to 2000'. Modbus communication channels are included. The VA301C is pre-programmed at the factory, but menu driven changes can be made in the field. The VA301C allows monitoring of an entire network and will initiate an alarm or ventilation activation upon detection of a gas. One model is available with datalogging.The VA301C Gas Detection Controller is designed to be used as part of a control system that helps to prevent the formation of a hazardous environment when properly installed and maintained. I have used this product on two large hospitals and was pleased both times. There is a small learning curve when programming the controller the first time, but it is not bad at all. The nice part about this product is that the controller has a removable SD card, which is used to store data logs. However, it also allows you to upload all of the programming to the card so that you can store your programming and download it to another controller later for similar jobs. Also, I was impressed with the level of customer service from Honeywell's technical support department. They were able to resolve any problems I had very quickly, usually on the first call. The people you speak to in the technical support department are the engineers that are actually designing the controller, and it's associated products, which gives them a very high level of expertise. I rated the Value as average because the price is a little on the higher end for this type of product.
